Due to its full surface area, the ceiling offers the ideal conditions for surface heating/surface cooling according to the heat radiation principle - the gentle, even temperature distribution without air currents. The air is neither required for transmission nor does it heat up in the process. Conventional heating systems (radiators and underfloor heating) primarily heat the room air and distribute it through (gentle) air flow in the room. This vertical air movement sometimes creates turbulence, which can be unpleasant for allergy sufferers in particular.
Heating with the air-handling ceiling. The technique is based on the exchange of radiation between a warm and a cold surface (infrared light). The heat "from above" radiates gently to the bodies below (floor/wall/furniture). These absorb the energy and warm up in the process.
Cooling with the climatic ceiling. In cooling mode, the system works in exactly the opposite way: the ceiling temperature is kept a few degrees below the outside temperature. Thus, furniture/wall/floor surfaces radiate their heat to the ceiling, where it is dissipated with the water. This creates a comfortable room climate without cold draughts and annoying noises from an air conditioning system.
Not only the room climate is perceived as pleasant, but also the cost and energy savings. Compared to conventional heating systems, the ceiling heating manages with a flow temperature of only 28 - 35°C. This reduces heating costs by up to 20%. Due to the low flow temperatures it is particularly suitable for connection to regenerative energy generators, e.g. heat pumps.
One system for all cases
Whether single-family homes, apartment buildings, commercial buildings or office buildings - the air-handling ceiling system is suitable for every building project. It is "completely invisible" and the entire ceiling provides a comfortable indoor climate in winter and summer. The system consists of a ready-to-install, heat-conducting profiled sheet, into whose grooves matching pipe registers are pressed. Since these profiled sheets can be adapted to any floor plan to create a 100% active area, the climate ceiling is suitable for both renovations and new buildings and can also be used as wall heating. The system is sponsored by the kfW-Bank.
Renovation: The system of the climate ceiling scores with flexibility and low installation height. The profiles can be adapted to any floor plan, no matter how angled, and allow a high occupancy density. For beam ceilings with and without pitched roofs, the ZEWO climate ceiling profiles can be installed between the beams in order not to lose any room height and to preserve the soffit of the original ceiling. This is an important factor, especially for the protection of historical monuments. Fire protection (F30) is possible when installed between wooden beams. A thermal composite system is not always economically, technically or legally possible in old buildings. The climatic ceiling system can achieve a high level of energy efficiency even without full thermal insulation.
New buildings: In new buildings, the profiles are suitable for any floor plan and any room use. They can be mounted on any ceiling, whether wood or concrete. And with the appropriate panelling, even fire protection requirements F30 and F60 can be implemented as the sole effective suspended ceiling. Possible ring absorbers (on request) improve the acoustics of the rooms. If the ceiling heating is planned from the beginning, it may even be possible to dispense with a floor construction with screed and thus save further costs. A sprung suspended construction insulates sound and can replace impact sound insulation of the floor
The ZEWO climate ceiling system can be mounted directly on the ceiling or on roof beams. Thus everything is already prepared for the installation: The pipe registers are simply inserted into the air conditioning ceiling system heat conduction plates and connected to the existing heating system. Then plasterboard or gypsum fibre boards are mounted on the profiles. After filling, painting or plastering, this structure is ready for use and can already be implemented with a total height of 30 mm.
If a mounting level is desired, the ZEWO climate ceiling profiles are mounted on counter battens or support profiles. These support profiles can also be suspended from the ceiling to create even more space - for example, to discreetly lay pipe duct networks for domestic ventilation, electrical and other elements of building services.
Fire protection: In order to ensure fire protection in dry construction too, we work with non-combustible Fermacell gypsum fibre boards. If required, the combination of the climatic ceiling profile and Fermacell boards achieves a fire resistance of F30 or F60 as the sole effective false ceiling in accordance with DIN 4102. In the interplay of panelling and overall construction, even F90 is possible. This enables old buildings to be renovated and suspended ceilings to be installed even under more stringent fire protection requirements.
The system consists of ready-to-install, clearly arranged products. For example, the climatic ceiling heat conducting plate is mounted directly on the ceiling or roof beams. The heating pipe is simply pressed into the groove of the heat conduction plate profiles and connected to the existing heating system. The system works with the high-quality metal composite pipe in the dimension 14 x 2.0. With this metal composite pipe an aluminium jacket is butt welded to the ﬂexible PE-RT heating pipe. Then plasterboard or fibreboard is mounted on the profiles and the filling/plastering can be done directly. Any ceiling geometries including wall slopes can be realised with the A/C ceiling heat conduction plates as well as cross and longitudinal connectors.
